Law firm · Corporate law
Legal judgement for business decisions.
Legal advice and strategic consultancy in commercial, corporate and civil law. We work alongside companies and their boards on an ongoing basis — not only once the problem already exists.
The firm
A corporate firm, not an emergency room.
Most matters that reach a law firm could have been resolved earlier and for less money. A contract reviewed in time, a shareholders’ agreement signed before it was needed, or a properly documented board decision prevent proceedings that later consume years of management attention.
BLL Abogados was founded on that conviction. We work in the areas that structure business activity — companies, contracts, assets, disputes — and we do so through an ongoing relationship with the company, which is the only way to anticipate rather than react.
We are not a volume practice. We take on the matters we can handle with the attention they require, and we say so plainly when that is not the case.
Practice areas
Eight areas covering the full life cycle of a company.
Corporate
Incorporation, governance and restructuring of companies. We work alongside the board on the decisions that shape the life of the business.
View area → 02Contracts
Contracts are the infrastructure of the business. We draft, negotiate and review them so that they hold up when something goes wrong.
View area → 03Strategic consultancy
Ongoing advice for the board: corporate structure, governance, risk mapping and support on decisions that matter.
View area → 04Litigation and arbitration
Defending the company's interests before the courts and arbitral tribunals, with an honest assessment of prospects, cost and timing before we start.
View area → 05Civil and assets
Family and business assets, civil contracts, property and succession. The boundary between personal and corporate wealth calls for judgement.
View area → 06Restructuring and insolvency
Acting early in the face of insolvency. Restructuring plans, creditor negotiations and formal insolvency, protecting the business and the board.
View area → 07Employment
Advising the company on its relationship with its people: hiring, management, workforce restructuring and defence before the employment tribunals.
View area → 08Compliance and data
Compliance programmes, corporate crime prevention and GDPR implementation, sized to the reality and scale of each company.
View area →How we work
Four commitments that shape every engagement.
- 01
Understand the business
Before giving a legal opinion we need to know how the company makes money, who decides and what is at stake. The applicable law is the same; the recommendation is not.
- 02
Say what we think
Including the uncomfortable conversations: when litigation is not worth it, when a transaction carries a risk nobody has priced in, or when the answer is simply that it should not be done.
- 03
Anticipate, not react
Most of what ends up in court could have been avoided by a better drafted contract or a decision taken three months earlier. That is where advice is worth most.
- 04
A stable point of contact
The partner who studies the matter is the one who runs it and the one who answers the phone. No intermediate layers, no change of team halfway through.
Initial consultation
Tell us about your situation.
The first conversation is there to understand the matter and tell you frankly whether we can help, what the alternatives are and what each one costs.
